Improving Community Health & Quality of LifeEvidence-Based Well-Being Programs Play an Important Role in Our Communities
Evidence-based well-being is effective in helping communities with:
Preventing disease
Reducing injuries
Boosting health
Improving quality of life
What are Community Evidence-Based Well-Being Programs?
Community evidence-based well-being programs are educational services. They’re designed to provide health and wellness information to community members. Information provided by community programs is supplemental to that provided from a doctor or healthcare provider. Community evidence-based well-being programs are an essential and invaluable tool. They help with improving community health and quality of life.
With more and more Americans battling chronic diseases and obesity, our country’s healthcare system is overburdened. Healthcare costs have spiraled to over 3.3 trillion dollars. This amounts to over $10,000 per person! Americans are looking for ways to improve their health and reduce costs. Thus, community evidence-based well-being programs help with:
- Reducing health care costs
- Eliminating strain on our healthcare system
Are you researching how to implement a community evidence-based well-being program for your neighborhood recreational center, senior living facility, or nursing home? If so, you’ve come to the right place! It may seem daunting at first. But, fear not. Strive has set up many evidence-based well-being programs for communities. We can help you do the same.

What Does “Evidence-Based” Mean?
The “evidence-based” part of these services ensure that only information proven to be effective is shared. This ensures participants get the best possible results and outcomes, without wasting time or effort. To be an “evidence-based program,” the model needs to have passed the following tests:
- It must undergo rigorous scientific evaluation, proving it’s truly effective and causes little to no harm
- The effectiveness must be proven among a large and diverse range of people; or in multiple studies, that evaluate different population samples
- Program effects must last over time, and be significant enough to make the efforts worthwhile
Only after a program has been fully-tested and is proven to be scientifically-sound, can it qualify as “evidence-based.” At that point, it can be implemented on a large scale. It becomes the “gold standard” for helping participants improve in that area of health.
What Health Concerns do Evidence-Based Programs Tackle?
They cover a broad range of health concerns. Research shows these programs can be hugely successful at improving health, fitness, and overall quality of life. Results achieved by evidence-based classes include:
Dance therapy classes, that reduced symptoms of depression after just 12 weeks
CDC’s National Diabetes Prevention Program, reduced the likelihood of developing diabetes by 58%
A program on managing hypertension, reduced the risk of heart attack by 24%
Regular Tai Chi practice, was shown to reduce the risk of falls – the leading cause of death in older Americans – from 56% to 31%.
