Fitness Center Management

We love our clients

Over the past 10 years, we’ve supported virtually every industry sector, including many Fortune 500 Companies and Government Agencies
While having a gym in the building was once a luxurious bonus offered by select employers or apartment complexes, onsite fitness centers now have become a must-have perk for any community looking to attract and retain talent or residents. Adding an onsite fitness center to your office, luxury apartment complex, or other facilities can certainly help to do both – but it also can place an overwhelming administrative burden on your organization, as well as creating significant liability. By outsourcing Fitness Center Management or gym staffing to a fitness management firm like Strive, you can minimize paperwork, reduce risk, and keep your fitness center running at optimum levels, providing maximum benefits to your community.

Fitness is a booming industry, and there are more than 36,000 health clubs in the US alone. Over 57 million Americans have gym memberships, and the industry brings in nearly 28 billion dollars each year. Operating an onsite fitness center for your employees or residents has been proven to increase exercise frequency and improve health, resulting in lower absenteeism and health care costs. However, actually running and maintaining a gym can be an overwhelming undertaking. From hiring fully-qualified staff and finding the right machines to organizing class schedules and performing regular maintenance, the administrative responsibilities are burdensome.

Onsite employee gyms also can be a tremendous source of liability. Hiring prescreened fully-certified instructors and finding safe, and reliable equipment is just the tip of the iceberg. There also are significant concerns about the way participants use onsite gym facilities. There are more than 464,000 injuries related to exercise and fitness equipment each year, with 52% of those injuries related to free weights and 36% related to fitness classes. Fitness club members drop weights, trip over or fall off machines, or land awkwardly while performing moves in an exercise class. In addition to causing injury to themselves, they also can damage machines with incorrect use.

When you use Fitness Center staffing and Management services like those offered by Strive, you can stop worrying about the innumerable small details of operating a fitness center and focus on the big picture of how your onsite gym is benefiting your community. We’ll provide full-scale turnkey oversight and management of the day-to-day operations of the fitness center, including:
  • developing standardized operating policies and procedures
  • hiring qualified staff
  • finding the right equipment
  • directing and supervising gym staff and activities
  • implementing programs that keep your participants healthy and functional
  • providing quality assurance services
  • evaluating and preparing reports on utilization

As soon as you decide to work with Strive, a dedicated account executive will be assigned to work with your organization and will help you determine which Fitness Center Management services will best benefit your facilities and your wellness initiatives. Our staff will work in conjunction with your internal wellness committee, facilities or HR team – along with food services providers and any other vendors you use to ensure a well-coordinated and seamless wellness program that provides maximum benefits to your employees. Your program representative also acts as your single point of contact to promptly address any issues that come up with staffing, scheduling, machines, or operationally related.

Your full-time on-site gym staffing will be provided by credentialed fitness professionals and usually consists of a fitness director and several specialists, depending on the size and scope of your fitness center. Every employee we hire to work in your fitness center has a degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or another health and fitness related field. They've also completed one of the following nationally-recognized Personal Training Certifications:
  • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
  • American Council on Exercise (ACE)
  • National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
  • International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA)
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
  • Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA)
Additionally, fitness instructors are CPR and BLS certified and have substantial previous experience managing or working in corporate fitness center environments.

When onsite, all fitness staff will wear Strive or client-approved uniforms along with name tags at all times, so your employees will always be able to identify the professionals who can help. Strive’s outsourced fitness staff will perform a wide range of responsibilities at your employee gym, including:
  • providing oversight and management of the facility
